"Since 1992, Guyana has managed to bring down its debt stock from 750 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP) to 45 per cent of GDP. Inflation has also been tamed from triple digits to single digits. Jagdeo notes that currently, 22 per cent of his budget goes to education and 20 per cent to health care.

"These are first-order priorities which has built our reputation for stable economic management," said the Guyanese prime minister."
